Thru-Core Emergency Tire Sealant
What type of punctures will Slime Thru-Core Sealant seal?
Slime Thru-Core Sealant will seal punctures up to ¼” (6mm). The puncture must occur in the tread area of the tire since Slime cannot reach or seal punctures outside of the tread area. Slime will not seal bead leaks or large punctures.
If you are installing Slime to repair an existing puncture, we recommend checking the tire for puncturing objects and removing any if found. Re-inflate the tire and immediately rotate it. This forces the sealant to flow around the tire allowing it to locate and repair the puncture. Be sure to check your valve to ensure air loss is not occurring at this source. Slime is intended to be used as a temporary emergency repair in passenger vehicles.

Do I need to remove my valve core to install Thru-Core sealant into my tire?
No. Thru-Core sealant is designed to be installed with the valve core in place. If the valve core is removed, the sealant will not be able to dispense.
Does the tire have to be completely flat before I use Thru-Core?
No. Thru-Core Emergency Tire Sealant can be installed even if there is some air inside the tire.
Will Thru-Core Sealant inflate my tire?
No. The propellant in our Thru-Core sealant is only intended to install the sealant into your tire. You will need a separate source of air to inflate the tire after installation
Can Slime be used to treat punctures in quiet tires?
We do not recommend installing Slime into quiet tires. The tread area of a quiet tire is coated with a layer of foam. If the sealant is installed, it will be instantly absorbed into the foam, rendering it unable to reach and treat the puncture. The sealant will also likely result in tire vibrations. Additionally, there is no way to remove the sealant from the foam and the tire will likely need to be replaced.
Can Slime be used to treat punctures in run flat tires?
We do not recommend installing Slime into run flat tires. Run flat tires are not designed for tire sealant as the run flat tire structure was specifically created to indicate a flat and still be safe to drive on for a short period of time. Additionally, some run flat tires have a foam insert to help support the run flat concept. If the tire does have the foam insert, sealant will be absorbed in the foam and will not reach the puncture hole.
